Un'altra città è possibile. Il futuro delle città come progetto collettivo
Thursday November 18th
From the educating laboratories in the area, to street educators, to family spaces, to protected residences: in the city's neighborhoods there are many networks of solidarity for prevention of hardship and for informal education.
The majority is made up of associations of active citizenry or volunteers and city services.
The map of networks and their activities is collected in the eugeni@ Atlas created during the project Genoa Educating City.

Laboratories, study centers, offices for work orientation for people in trouble such as ex-drug addicts, homeless people, immigrants, unemployed people in general, constitute complex, well-defined and important models for work placement for those, and there are consistently more of them, who have to struggle - in the North as in the South of the planet - for that scarce resource, paid work, that is simply a universal right.

In one of the city's valleys, the Val Bisagno, a process of Agenda 21 is underway, coordinated by the City and the Province of Genoa; throughout the area volunteers are taking care of creating and managing parks, or 'green spaces'.

Science education is one of the areas in which all public sector entities are investing more and more resources. The Children's City and the International De Amicis Library in the area of the Porto Antico are other examples. Known for the quality of its healthcare, the Institute has an internal public school and the support of psychologists to help the young patients and their families to deal with illnesses. The Gaslini Institute founded the Mediterranean Institute Foundation for Children which is dedicated to promoting children's health and well-being in all the countries of the Mediterranean.
