REMIDA - creative recycling centre

Alcuni esempi di materiali di recupero riciclatiRemida is a centre of "creative recycling" that promotes: a pedagogic culture attentive to children’s and teenagers’ creative capacity; the re-use of recovered materials for services and initiatives towards children and adolescents; a civic sensibility against waste; global education through the history of the production and consumption of things.

In this centre different materials  are available. They are provided by various companies operating in the area; among the many materials you can find paper, wood, metal, leather, plexiglass, cloths, haberdashery, colours, film and various other objects.

Remida in Val Polcevera (a suburb of Genoa) is part of a network promoted by the Centre of Reggio Emilia that has been active since 1996 and through the years has promoted the birth of other Remida Centres in different Italian and European cities  as in Finland and France.

The promoters of this project in Genoa are: the COOPSSE, that provides the premises and manages the centre with its own staff; the Municipality of Genoa through the “Assessorato alla Città Educativa” that provides pedagogic advice, organizative support and the network with the educative institutions; the AMIU (urban cleanliness company of Genoa) which organizes the transport of waste material to this centre; the CARIGE Foundation that has financed the starting up.

GomitoloREMIDA takes part to the scientific committee for Genoa “City of culture — Childhood Project”.

REMIDA is addressed towards all the educating, social and cultural services and centres taking part in creative activities for children and youth, such as the services for children aged from 0 to 6, public schools, laboratories supporting school activities administrated or coordinated by Genoa’s Municipality, the Laboratory of “migrazioni, idee e materie in gioco” (migrations, ideas and materials at play), the Didactics section of the museums, the socio-educational Services, the services for people with disabilities, the free time services and cultural organisations with creative laboratories for childhood and adolescence.

The centre carries out a lot of activities and cultural initiatives involving all the people that make use of the materials offered, and gives a permanent space with documentation of some realised activities with recuperated stuff.

REMIDA is opened with a scholastic calendar to be visited and materials recuperation.
